I painted this watercolor in the seaside village of Mendocino on the northern California coast. A small clay pot filled with garden flowers greeted me at the doorway of the cottage where I was staying. They inspired an evening of romance and painting. The vibrant, mysterious colors of the painting echo the foggy ocean night, and the sweet scent of lilies lingered in our dreams.
