Cold Water Riffle

I’m fascinated with painting water…capturing the white foam, the transparency of water flowing over rocks, and the reflections of the surroundings.

This painting of a mountain stream splashing over boulders was created on a summer afternoon in northern California.  I sat on a larger boulder, looking down at the creek swirling past, trying to capture the movement and color and multiple surfaces below.

Plein air watercolor by Kim Solga.
16 inches by 20 inches on Arches 140lb paper.

Original painting for sale: $550.

This painting is currently framed with natural honey-colored wood, top mounted on a tawny mat to highlight the lovely deckled edge of the handmade Arches paper.  The framing is not included in the price listed above.
