Limited Edition Prints

Most of my paintings are also available as prints.  These limited edition prints (also called giclée prints, from the French word meaning a spray of liquid) are created from high resolution digital images of original painting. The prints are usually done in the same size as the painting, although special sizes can be custom ordered if you want to purchase a smaller, or slightly larger, print.

The printing is done by master photographer Bob Swanson at ArtistiControl, where Epson printers with pigment based inks create “almost exact” copies of my paintings. Bob is amazing, and always gets the colors just right, complete with all the wonderful details…bleeds, back washes, granulations and delicate line work…that make watercolors so randomly beautiful. The prints are made on watercolor paper similar to the original surface. Proof prints are run and meticulously checked to the original until the accuracy of color and texture is optimized.

Once a print is perfected, I decide upon the size of the edition. This number is set when the very first print is produced, and never changes in the future. Unless the painting is a commission (a special scene you order only for yourself) I generally do an edition of 50 prints that are exact reproductions of the original.

The quality of giclée printing at ArtistiControl rivals traditional photographic silver-halide and gelatin printing processes as well as lithographic reproductions. Giclée prints are accepted by museums, art galleries, and art collectors the world over.

I hope you will enjoy the ability to purchase high quality, limited edition  prints of my work as well as the original paintings.  For pricing and availability, click on any painting in the Rock, Water, Plants or People galleries.
