The rusty browns of bare branches glow against blue sky and mossy green pine forest. Blue shadows stripe the snow beneath the trees, while the icy aqua river flows silently through the frozen landscape.
I’m a plein air painter – which means that I paint landscapes outdoors, creating a watercolor of the scene in front of me. This is a problem in the wintertime. Kind of difficult to sit in a snowbank for several hours.
This delightful scene, however, presented itself through the glass doorway of a cabin in the Oregon woods. I could sit in the warm interior and paint the wintertime beauty outside!
