Palmer Gacier: Mount Hood
A climber high on the Palmer Glacier peeks into the bergschrund. A bergschrund is a crevasse that forms at the top of a moving glacier, where the ice separates from the stagnant ice above. Bergschrunds can extend to the bedrock and have a depth of well over 100 metres.
